sarcasm = the last refuge of the hopelessly unoriginal – right? Wrong! Sarcasm may be known as the lowest form of wit, but it’s still wit, and we all know that wit is the ability to see and express connections between things that other people can’t or won’t see. Sarcasm is just one manifestation of this ability.
For those of us that see the duality in everything, the road to pointing out the obvious or expressing the flipside of any situation is paved with much name-calling. Sure, maybe we could have learned some empathy, or just listened as a friend, however, for the truth- tellers, those are early adulthood skills. And so, we stumbled through life experiments conveying the duality in our world in blunt ways often perceived as mean,frank, uncaring, and yep – bitchiness!
The truth is – we’re not being bitchy – we’re just trying to make sense of the world around us. And so, we observe. We listen. We see both sides of every story and then some.
That’s just how we’re wired. It’s a gift – even though it may not always feel like one. It can often feel like a burden because – here’s the kicker – we live in a world that is mostly populated by people that don’t think or see things the way we do.
